I am a 32-year-old mother of 5 kids. Five is certainly not the "normal" number of children that most people have but our family is even more unusual - three of the five came at the same time! Yes, that's triplets.
Overnight our family went from a family of 4 to a family of 7 and things have been changing dramatically ever since. Twelve years ago my husband and I married. At that time we both worked and had 2 incomes. Four years later, after a long struggle with infertility we had our first daughter, Kaitlyn and we were a family of three.
Three years, a thyroid surgery, two miscarriages and five attempts at pregnancy we conceived our second child, a son, Caleb.
When we went back for just one more baby we got three more! All girls, Julianna, Rachel and Alyssa. Today they are 2 years old.
Yes, we are busy. But despite our business with five extra mouths to feed there is one thing we cannot neglect: our finances!
Unfortunately I have done just that for too long so as 2009 approaches I am determined to live on a much tighter budget while (hopefully) not neglecting the things I love: name brand kids clothes!! I am addicted to Gymboree and the Gap but times five is a hefty price to pay.
So, what is the point of this blog? This is a way for me (and my friend Cherie) to share how we actually do it with multiples and our money saving tips for how we can survive having larger then normal families. After all once you have triplets you have one more child then the average family automatically!
Thanks for stopping by - I hope our tips help even if you don't have triplets or more.
